Esports tournament operators PGL and BLAST have announced their upcoming events scheduled for January 2027. The organizers made their announcements early, adhering to Valve's new rule. As of 2027, major tournaments must be announced at least 24 months before their start date. The PGL tournament is set to take place from January 13 to January 25, 2027. The venue, prize pool, participant lineup, and additional details will be revealed later via PGL's social media channels. BLAST will host a BLAST Bounty series tournament from January 13 to January 24, 2027. Further details about the event will also be disclosed at a later date. So far, no other tournament organizers have announced plans for Counter-Strike 2 events in 2027.

PGL and BLAST Announce January 2027 Tournaments

The organizers of ESL Pro League Season 21 have officially revealed the full list of tournament participants. In the second stage of the tournament, invitations were extended to the top 8 teams in the Valve rankings: G2 Esports, Team Spirit, The MongolZ, Team Vitality, MOUZ, Natus Vincere, Team Falcons, and Team Liquid. The first stage will feature FURIA, 3DMAX, Eternal Fire, GamerLegion, FlyQuest, SAW, HEROIC, Nemiga Gaming, M80, NRG, TYLOO, Lynn Vision, paiN Gaming, MIBR, Mindfreak, and Housebets. Some of these teams received invites based on the Valve rankings, while others secured their spots through regional ESL Challenger tournaments. ESL Pro League Season 21 will take place in Sweden from January 1 to January 16, 2025. The prize pool for the event is $400,000.

The organizers of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025 have officially revealed the lineup of teams participating in the tournament. A total of 24 teams will compete at IEM Katowice 2025: 16 teams will start from the Play-in stage, while the remaining 8 will begin in the group stage. All invites were issued based on the Valve rankings. Teams invited to the Play-in stage: Liquid, FURIA, Astralis, MIBR, Eternal Fire, paiN, 3DMAX, Complexity, Virtus.pro, GamerLegion, Wildcard, SAW, BIG, FlyQuest, Imperial fe, HEROIC. Teams invited to the group stage: Spirit, G2, Natus Vincere, Vitality, MOUZ, FaZe, The MongolZ, Falcons. IEM Katowice 2025 will take place in Poland from January 29 to February 9. The tournament boasts a prize pool of $1,000,000.

IEM Katowice 2025 Lineup Revealed

FaZe Clan has announced the addition of EliGE to their roster. Previously, the player represented Complexity Gaming. In the new lineup, EliGE replaces ropz, who departed from FaZe Clan on December 31 of last year. It remains unclear whether FaZe Clan plans to make additional roster changes for Counter-Strike. However, insiders believe that no further changes will be made to the team. The current FaZe Clan roster is as follows: rain, broky, karrigan, frozen, EliGE. The first tournament for FaZe Clan in 2025 will be the closed qualifier for BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, scheduled for January 14-19. The main stage of BLAST Bounty Spring 2025 is set to take place from January 23-26.

EliGE Joins FaZe Clan

HEROIC has announced the departure of the last remaining player from their Counter-Strike roster. The club confirmed that sjuush has joined another team, but the destination was not disclosed. Sjuush played for HEROIC for nearly four years, from February 2021 to January 2025. During his tenure, he helped the team win BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022 and ESL Pro League Season 13. They also secured second place at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 and Intel Extreme Masters Rio Major 2022, while finishing 5-8th at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. This departure leaves HEROIC with no active players. Previously, NertZ moved to Team Liquid, while Team Falcons acquired TeSeS, kyxsan, and degster. Currently, the only official member of HEROIC is coach sAw. Insiders suggest that the club will announce a new roster soon, but no official statement has been made yet.

Sjuush leaves HEROIC

Team Liquid has announced the transfer of NertZ from HEROIC. The player completes the North American team's lineup, replacing YEKINDAR, who was moved to the bench in late December 2024. As a result, Team Liquid's roster now consists of: NAF, Twistzz, ultimate, jks, and NertZ. The team is coached by mithR. Meanwhile, HEROIC is left with only sjuush and coach sAw, as TeSeS, kyxsan, and degster previously joined Team Falcons.
